Mutationen och utvecklingen av djurlivet pågor fortfarade. Här en mindre lyckad (?) tvåsvansad land iguana.

Det pågår fortvarande vulansk verksamhet. Denna delen av ön Santiago har ett stort lavaområde som är 100 år gamalt.

There is still volcanic activity. This part of the Santiago island has a big lava area which is about 100 years old.

Helt dött förutom en pionjärbuske samt några små ödlor och gräshoppor som lever av dess blommor.

Totally dead except a pioneer bush and some small lizards and grasshoppers who lives of these flowers.

Många av öarna har en blandat lanskap med lava öken och grön buskskogar.

A lot of the islands have a mixed landscape with lava desert and green bush areas.

Upp ur havet kom vattenliguanerna.

Up from the ocean comes a water Iguana.

Till skillnad från landiguanan får vattenliguanan all sig föda ur havet. Den dyker ned och betar av sjögräs och mossa som växer under ytan.

The water Iguanas gets it's food from the ocean. It dives down and eats sea grass that grows on the rocks below.

På dagarna får den upp kroppstemperaturen genom att sola sig på klipporna i full harmoni med fåglarna, här tillsammans med en Swallow-tailed Gull.

During the days it raises it's body temperature by sun bathing on the rocks in full harmony with the birds, here with a Swallow-tailed Gull.

Vi var den enda båten under april 2001 som fick besöka den lilla ön Daphne.

We where the only boat allowed to visit the small island Daphne during April 2001.

Inuti öns krater bodde en mängd olika fåglar och de mycket skygga

Inside this islands crater a lot of different birds lived together with the very shy

finchfåglarna. Ön har idag två amerikanska forskare som studerar hur de utvecklas samt vilka olika typer det finns.

Finch birds. The island had two American scientists who studied how the birds develops and which types there are.

På Daphne fanns även nyfikna små ödlor.

On Daphne there where some curious small lizards.

Om man satt still i 10 minuter kom dom klättrande upp på fötterna.

If you sat still for about 10 minutes they climbed up on your feet checking you out.
